First Forum on Seasonal Forecasting and its Application
to Early Warning Systems for Food Security in West Africa

EVALUATION AND PERSPECTIVES
|
The PRESAO-1 Forum adopted
the following strategic recommendations:
1. To organize the PRESAO-1
Post Forum concentrating on evaluation of the forecast.
2. To start the process for
holding the next Forum in 1999 by:
-
organizing of an action
and training perform;
-
organizing of PRESAO-2 and its
applications to food security and health;
-
organizing of PRESAO-2 Post Forum
for Evaluation.
3. The Forum invites
the Member States and the partners to study the ways and means for mobilizing
resources necessary in implementing the recommendations of the present
Forum.
4. The Forum recommended the
extension of this approach to the other sub-regions of the Continent.
5. The Forum recognizes that
important progress was realized in the field of seasonal prediction.
It is highly recommended that
Meteorologists and users collaborate very closely in order to profit from
the scientific advances and techniques for the benefit and well being of
the African population.
