CIMMS Council

The CIMMS Council is made up of representatives from both the University of Oklahoma (OU; meteorology and other disciplines) and the NOAA units located in Norman, Oklahoma. The Council meets regularly to provide advice and recommendations to the CIMMS Director regarding appointments, procedures, and policies; to review and adopt bylaws; and to periodically review the accomplishments and progress of the technical and scientific programs and projects of CIMMS. The Council's advice is not binding on the Director relative to any recommendations that might be carried forward to the CIMMS Advisory Board.

Membership of the Council should consist of:

Director of CIMMS, Chair
Three Members designated by the OU Provost with concurrence of the Directors of both CIMMS and the OU School of Meteorology, and the Dean of the College of Geosciences
Two Members designated by the Director of the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) with the concurrence of the Directors of CIMMS and the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL)
Two Members designated by the NWS Director with the concurrence of the Directors of CIMMS, Storm Prediction Center (SPC), Radar Operations Center (ROC), Warning Decision Training Branch (WDTB), Norman NWS Forecast Office (NWSFO), NWS Southern Region Headquarters and National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
Two Members elected by the CIMMS Assembly of Fellows from their membership
Director of the School of Meteorology, ex officio
Director of the NSSL, ex officio
Director of the SPC, ex officio
Director of the ROC, ex officio
Director of the WDTB, ex officio
Director of the Norman NWSFO, ex officio
Director of the NWS Southern Region Headquarters, ex officio
Director of the NCDC, ex officio
