[1] I hasten to add that this
statement is valid only in the U.S., since most of the 48 contiguous states
have more than one weather office issuing forecasts. It is arguably invalid
for Australia, with only a handful (7?) of regional forecast offices in an area
comparable to the 48 contiguous states of the U.S. In effect, I see the future
of the U.S. looking much like Australia is at present.
