Paul, Would you not be surprised to know that I was 1 mile west of the Falcon tornado on 22 June that hit the homes and buildings near Meadowbrook Airport? I chased this storm after visiting with Kathy T. in COS, and was on my way up to FCL. Let Kathy know that she should have blown off her afternoon sleep (for mid-shift) and gone with me! Anyway, I took about 10 pix of the tornado, and more of the storm after it moved east. I also got some damage photos. Here's what I have (recorded on my tape log): Tornado on ground from 440-448 pm MDT. Condensation briefly reached the ground for about 15 seconds in about its 3rd minute of its life. For the most part, condensation was about 60% down. Very dynamic, but small debris cloud with lots of "chunks" (mainly corrugated sheet metal) airborne. No multiple vortices were evident. Path length was about 2 miles. It touched down about 1/2 mile ENE of the intersection of Judge Orr Rd. and Rt. 24. It travelled from about 290 degrees across Judge Orr (just F0 tree limbs) into the area just south of Aerostar Ln (?). It was about 50 yards wide. Damaged 6 structures, all F1. Tornado may have been as strong as an F2, but no damage to support it. It dissipated about 1/2 mile east of Curtis Rd. about .4 miles south of Judge Orr. I estimate its forward speed of 10-12 kts. My location was driving up a road parallel and just west of 24, and then stopped at Judge Orr and 24 to watch it dissipate. It was about 1.4 miles east of me when it dissipated. No sound was heard. I was in a very weak RFD (north @ 10 kts) and a small hook wrapped around (light rain big drops and 1/2" hail) after the tornado disspated. This was a tough supercell to classify. A Classic-LP hybrid, but the updraft base was *no more* than THREE miles in diameter. This is the *smallest* tornadic supercell I have ever seen! Could you please save any videos, pix, or newspaper clippings of the event, as I would like to get copies. Also, I will dupe my slides and send them your way in the next few weeks. I would also love to see the radar data for this one! Perhaps a quicklook report would be great! Well....THANK YOU for inviting me up on this day!!! regards, greg
